Waupaca County Poor Farm

we were granted permission from the current landowners to enter this place and photograph away … it was very nice to be able to take our time and not constantly look over our shoulders …

this is a 19th century farm house that was originally a poor farm run by Waupaca County … the poor farm housed people who were not able to take care of themselves–the destitute, and those with mental illness … in later years, the property housed the elderly, and people that had no homes … people lived and died in the poor farm and dozens are buried in a cemetery located behind the property …
